Monica Monaghan-Milstein is the design principal at MonicaArts. Monica's vast background and lineage in fine art and applied design serves her well in pursuit and creation of custom designed solutions, distinguished by mid-century modernist ideals. Her inspirations are varied – from the endless patterns, forms and color harmonies of nature, to innovations in industrial design & architecture; from a broad range of periods in Art history, to the dynamism of live music, dance & theatre. Monica's creativity, innovation and vision are well served both at home in Portland Oregon, and throughout her numerous travels.
Monica's mid-century sensibility is informed by lifelong passion, study, and aesthetic heritage. The daughter of an accomplished painter & professor of art, and a prominent display designer, Monica spent her formative years surrounded by abundantly rich creative influences of the modernist movement. This immersion naturally evolved into her advanced study in fine art, textile design, color theory and industrial design. Monica's work honors this lineage by infusing the timeless principles of mid-century modern form & function into all her creations and design solutions for modern living.
